We have seven general types of volunteers:

1) Construction volunteers - work on the house sites

2) Habitat Committee volunteers - serve "behind the scenes"

3) Special Events volunteers - help plan and run fundraisers

4) Office volunteers - complete tasks such as data entry & filing

5) ReStore - unload, organize, sell surplus materials in store to benefit HHH

6) Mentors- help the families throughout the build                                                                                                                                    

7) Food Prep - make lunches for on site volunteers--good job for volunteers under 14 or those who don't want to swing a hammer.

1) Construction Volunteers: Go to Volunteering tab for links to required forms.

  • Complete all jobs except professionally licensed work.
  • This includes: framing, roofing, painting, trim, siding and landscaping.
  • Crew leaders: teach small groups specific tasks, such as those above.
  • Repair existing homes and build accessible ramps.
  • Jobs for ages 14 and up. All ability levels welcome. Work one day or many.
  • Hours are typically 8 am - 3 pm, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

  • Complete Waiver of Liability, register on Volunteer Up and watch "Volunteering on a Habitat Site" online
  • Call or email Volunteer Coordinator, Michaelann Meehan, to sign up for workdays.
  • DO NOT JUST SHOW UP for workdays.
  • Group trainings available.

2) Committee Volunteers: Committees usually meet on a monthly basis to plan and organize the work of Harford Habitat. Call the office for chairperson's contact info. See Committees tab for details.

  • Church Relations
  • Construction
  • Family Selection
  • Finance
  • Planning
  • Publicity/Media
  • Resource Development

3) Special Events- Dream Builders Ball, Golf Tournament, Purse Auction

4) Office Volunteers- contact the office directly for days, times and tasks needed.

5) ReStore - unload, organize, sell surplus materials in store to benefit HHH

6) Mentors- work with a family to support and encourage them through their build, attend meetings with them and act as liaison for HHH.

7) Food Prep- Make lunches for on-site volunteers; contact office to pick a day to suit your schedule and get directions to sites.
