Harford Habitat for Humanity Committees:
Where do you fit in?
Not everyone is interested in pounding a nail. Every person has different ideas, abilities, skills and interests, all of which are the building blocks of Harford Habitat for Humanity. There are numerous small tasks that enable each committee to focus on its particular objective. Please go to the tab marked "Volunteering" and register with us. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator for details on the committees below:
Board Management
Review Habitat by-laws, assess needs
Nominate, train and evaluate new members
Church Relations
Contact, meet with church leaders
Act as liaison for a church
Represent HHH at Mission Fairs, church events and community fairs
Construction
Plan/schedule house construction
Welcome, sign in and help to train and lead volunteers on site
Coordinate equipment usage among sites
Family Selection
Assist with applicant orientation meetings
Review applications for initial qualification
Perform home visits
Review eligibility criteria
Offer childcare for prospective families at the office during orientation meetings
Be a family mentor, working one-on-one with the family
Finance
Develop, oversee, and review the budget
Implements and reviews financial policies
Responsible for audit functions
Review mortgage payment procedure
Assist with contract preparation and settlements with partner families
Planning
Develop and revise Habitat's strategic and annual goals
Oversee new program development and evaluation
Resource Development
Develop and review a comprehensive development plan
Review staff, board and volunteer involvement
Take the lead in some outreach efforts
Special Events– though not one formal committee, each event has its own planning committee, and much help is needed:
Assist with planning and running fundraising events—
Dream Builder’s Ball~ winter event,
Golf Tournament ~ summer event &
Purse Auction ~ fall even
Obtain silent auction items & event sponsors
Network with local businesses.
