Click here to register, complete the waiver and sign up (link back to Volunteer Up) Construction Volunteer Guidelines Position Description: Harford Habitat for Humanity depends on many volunteers each year to build houses for families in need. Volunteers assist the construction staff in all aspects of construction, including framing, roofing, siding, painting, and landscaping. We sincerely appreciate the gifts of your time and efforts! Qualifications and Requirements: · Able to work with staff, homeowners, and volunteers in a mature and responsible manner. · Physically able to perform tasks while under direction. · Prior experience and skills are not required. · Minimum age of 16. · Volunteers must provide their own transportation throughout the day. · We request that volunteers commit to working a full day. · Report to the site for instructions at designated time unless notified before the scheduled date. · Volunteers can sign up for one day, several days, or participate on an ongoing basis. Release and Waiver Form: · Each volunteer must complete and sign a Release and Waiver of Liability prior to arrival at worksite. Waivers must be updated every year. · Children under 18 years old must have a parent or guardian sign the “Youth” waiver form. · NO ONE IS ALLOWED ON A WORKSITE WITHHOUT A COMPLETED WAIVER FORM. First Aid: · A cell phone and first aid kit are available on site. · All injuries, no matter how minor, must be reported to your supervisor immediately. · If a serious injury occurs, the site supervisor will assist you in getting emergency medical care. · Bring any prescription drugs as needed (inhalers, bee sting kit, etc.) Volunteer Etiquette: · Please arrive on time and plan to stay until the end of the shift. · Let your supervisor know if you must leave early when you sign in. · Ask you supervisor for instructions as needed. · Let the supervisor know if you are uncomfortable with a task. · Throughout the day, keep the site & tools clean. · If you see unsafe situations, alert your supervisor. · Lunch is provided on some days, and we’ll let you know.
